Exploring Gatlinburg and The Great Smoky Mountains

Here at Mountain Life UTV Rentals, we consider ourselves incredibly lucky to call Gatlinburg home. Not only are we blessed to have the Great Smoky Mountains right in our backyard, but we also have nearly unlimited activities for us and our families to enjoy, no matter the time of year. If you’re planning on visiting our neck of the woods, we want you to experience all of the wonderful things that this area has to offer (although it’s unlikely that you’ll have the time since there are so many things to do and sights to see).

We let you explore the area unlike any other method of travel. By cruising around town and in the Smoky Mountains in a UTV! We offer you the chance to rent one of our side-by-sides anywhere from a few hours to a week and promise that it will be an adventure for you and your loved ones. Since there are so many sights and activities, we wanted to offer you a few places that visitors love. If you have any questions, would like some more suggestions on things to do, or are looking to rent a UTV, then make sure to contact us today!

RIPLEY’S

A favorite of the young crowd but fun for adults as well, Ripley’s Believe It or Not houses multiple exhibits and artifacts that are all — a little bit odd. A majority of the exhibits are interactive! And that’s not all, they also have two miniature golf courses, a haunted house, and a theater that is not only in 3D, but the seats move! And we haven’t even gotten to the best part, the aquarium! At the Ripley’s Aquarium of the Smokies, you and your family will be able to see sharks, rays, penguins, and more! This is a must-visit during a family trip.

GATLINBURG SKYLIFE

If you want to view all of Gatlinburg and have an incredible vantage point to see the peaks of the Great Smoky Mountains, you’re going to want to check out the SkyLift Park. Ride the SkyLift up 500 vertical feet to the top where you will find the longest pedestrian suspension bridge in North America and the SkyDeck that offers breathtaking views.

CADES COVE

The Great Smoky Mountains is known for its abundance of wildlife including but not limited to:

  • Elk
  • Deer
  • Coyotes
  • Bobcats
  • Black Bears
  • And so much more

If you are on the look-out for wildlife during your stay in Gatlinburg, it’s very possible that you’ll see them if you just spend enough time in the park, however, your chances skyrocket if you go spend some time in Cades Cove. One of the most popular destinations for visitors, Cades Cove is an open and isolated valley surrounded by the looming mountains that is a haven for the many animals that call this area home.

CLINGMANS DOME

While the Gatlinburg SkyLife has an incredible view and we highly recommend that you go and take a look, the best scenic view that you can find around here is definitely Clingmans Dome. At a staggering 6,643 feet, this is the highest point in all of Tennessee! For those willing to make the trek, you have the option to climb a half-mile walk to the observatory tower. If the weather cooperates, you’ll have some of the most breathtaking 360° views of the Great Smoky Mountains.

HISTORIC OGLE LOG CABIN

Go visit the spot that Gatlinburg originated. It began in 1802, when a man named William Ogle found the area and found it to be “the land of paradise.” Using the help of a local Cherokee, William chose a site and began building his log cabin. Unfortunately, he soon died of malaria, but when his family saw what he was building they decided to finish what he had started. These were the first settlers of the area and the cabin is still standing today. This is a great place for history buffs to visit.

GATLINBURG TRAIL

Have you brought your furry best friend with you along for your adventure? We get it. We love our four-legged family members too! But if you are looking to go on a lot of hiking trails with them, you might be a little bit disappointed as not many are dog-friendly. But don’t worry! The Gatlinburg Trail is a 1.9 mile one-way path that provides beautiful views of the river, and the best part? They allow dogs! Not only that but it is also one of the only paths that allows bicycles as well.

As we said, we are also big fans of dogs, so we allow you to bring your pup in your UTV rental as well! If your dog loves sticking their head out the window in a normal car, imagine how happy they will be to ride in one of our side-by-sides!
